Coloardo Baptists Provide Clean Water

In 2011, a group of Baptists in Colorado decided to work with Baptists in Zimbabwe to identify areas where it would be helpful to drill clean water wells. To date, 10 wells have been drilled and 5 more are slated to be drilled in the next month or so.

Colorado Baptists have also provided a large water storage tank for the old folk’s home in Gweru, Zimbabwe as the city water was very irregular and some days they had no water. Now when the city water is running it fills up the large tank so they have plenty of water for their daily needs.

Recently, Pastor Jim came from Colorado to see the progress that is being made. He was honored at several places where the wells are now producing water. He was also at the “Grand Opening” of the well at the Zvikombe Primary School. For the first time in the school’s 22 year existence teachers and students will have clean water to drink. They had been surviving on water from the river several miles away and small uncovered water seeps.

The children did skits about the importance of safe drinking water and some of the kids wrote poems about all the things people need water for.

Many thanks to the Colorado Baptists who have helped to support this project!
Pray that the people in the churches who have received a well which will provide clean drinking water for their communities, will also share the “living water of Jesus Christ” with their neighbors.
